The Pinacoteca Civica (Civic Art Gallery) <\/strong>is housed in the prestigious Palazzo Minucci Solaini<\/strong>.Its origins date back to 1842, when Luigi Inghirami, Worker of the Cathedral, began to collect some paintings coming from churches, monasteries and suppressed companies of the city.<\/p>\n

It preserves many important and significant works of art, mostly coming from the Camaldolese Abbey but also from other collections in Volterra.<\/p>\n

Some masterpieces stand out, such as the Deposition<\/strong> by Rosso Fiorentino<\/strong>, an admirable example of Florentine Mannerism, the great polyptych by Taddeo di Bartolo of the beginning of the 15th century and an altarpiece by Ghirlandaio.<\/p>\n

There are also works by Luca Signorelli<\/strong> with the Madonna with Child and Saints and the table of the Annunciation, as well as the Flemish painter Pieter De Witte,<\/strong> with the paintings of the Crib and the Lamentation.<\/p>\n

The rooms also show wooden statues, medieval ceramics and works that tell the artistic vitality of the city, touched by the Florentine schools, Siena and Pisa.<\/p>\n

The Art Gallery organizes exhibitions and temporary exhibitions, in collaboration with other institutions and institutions, with particular regard to the cultural city heritage.<\/p>\n
