“Arthropoda. Journey into a microcosm” is a new temporary exhibition by EsNat Fondazione, that will be hosted in the Museum of Natural History (set in Calci, close to the Charterhouse) from 26th October 2018 until 3rd November 2019.

Insects, spiders and scorpions up to 3 meters long take us on a journey to the discovery of the secrets and curiosities of an unknown microcosm.

Often overlooked because their small size, arthropods actually dominate our Planet, proving to be at times our allies or our enemies. The models up to 3 meters long of this exhibition will make us feel small and enter an unknown world to admire the elegant shapes and the beautiful colors of beetles and butterflies and to observe without fear the terrible appearance of scorpions, spiders and cockroaches.
The life scenes presented in the dioramas, the tactile panels and the models made by Naturaliter and Ecofauna will make visitors looking to the “little” world of arthropods with new eyes.
Moreover, the entomimes, imaginary hybrids between humans and insects, will arouse our anxiety in discovering that their societies are not so different from ours. We can love or hate them, but we must be aware that arthropods are inextricably linked to our lives.
