Every first weekend in September, Vicopisano’s medieval festival has for 25 years paid homage to an illustrious past that between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance saw the ancient castellum flourish in a small town, strategically important first for the Republic of Pisa and later for the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

On Saturday between 23:30 and around midnight, a fireworks display to celebrate 25 years. The street performances, touring through the alleys, squares and glimpses of Vicopisano, will be even more enthralling, with flag-wavers, jugglers, aerial acrobats, fire-eaters, stilt-walkers, and travelling theatre.

The mediaeval dinner will be held in the piazzetta of Palazzo Pretorio on both Saturday and Sunday, but it will be possible to refresh oneself at every corner, after changing currency at the entrance and taking the big Pisani, thanks to the taverns scattered throughout the village.

Another attraction is the medieval market, with objects and jewellery, also for young knights and ladies.
On Sunday afternoons, the Middle Ages will be dedicated especially to boys and girls with entertainment, games and animations from the period.
