Palio of San Rocco Pilgrim – Popular Festival | San Miniato

The Festival del pensiero popolare – Palio di S. Rocco pellegrino is an event dedicated to popular and contemporary culture that takes place around mid-August in Piazza Bonaparte, in the district known as ‘Scioa‘, San Miniato’s historic centre.

A popular festival to valorise and rediscover the hidden places in the historic centre, untouched by tourist itineraries, as did the pilgrims who travelled along the Via Francigena, of which San Rocco is the patron saint.

Special guests include Peppe Voltarelli, internationally renowned singer-songwriter and actor, Annet Henneman with her latest book ‘Nonostante’ (Despite), Gian Maria Ferlito (Catania), Guillherme Kirchheim (Brazil), Theater X (Berlin), and much more.

The kermesse will be closed by the unfailing Palio di San Rocco with the split of the watermelons with their asses, which will continue into the evening with an unprecedented night version.
