Exhibitions at the Museo Etrusco Guarnacci | Volterra

28/08/2024 - 06/01/2025

Centro storico Volterra, centro, piazze e luoghi limitrofi, Volterra

Until 3 June 2024 the exhibition “DIMORE ETERNE, I TUMULI ETRUSCHI DELLE COLOMBAIE” is open to the public in the Sala dell’altana on the 4th floor of the Museo Etrusco Guarnacci.
The exhibition presents for the first time to the public the completely unpublished materials from the excavation of the Necropolis of the Colombaie, where an archaeological investigation has been underway since 2016.
The exploration of the Etruscan necropolis has led to the discovery of chamber tombs built of stone and covered by tumulus structures.
Cost of admission with the normal museum ticket price.

There are several museums in Volterra where most of the historical, archaeological and artistic heritage is preserved. The first museum to be established, in 1761, was the Museo Etrusco Guarnacci, followed by the other museums in Volterra and those in the Valdicecina. Since 1992, the museums of Volterra have formed a museum system, among the first in Tuscany, with a single ticket.
