Every year on 22 March, the world celebrates World Water Day, established by the United Nations in 1992 with the aim of reminding everyone how important water is for survival on this planet. In 1992, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development was held in Rio de Janeiro. In the same year, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to celebrate this day on 22 March each year.

The aim is to raise awareness of the critical issue of water, to which not everyone has access in some countries and areas of the world. In particular, the focus is on fresh water and on not polluting water to protect all aquatic habitats.
