The cherries of Lari are known for their prized, native varieties and high quality production. Large or small, more or less sweet: they’re all here, winning over their visitors at first bite.
Cherries have made this ancient village on the Pisan Hills famous and so every year the village has honored them with this festival.
On Sunday, 2 June, following an evaluation by of a jury of experts, the Golden Cherry prize will be awarded to the best cherry producer.
The festival will be packed with various events including a local food market with products on display for tasting and purchase to promote and enhance the rich local gastronomy. The program also includes many cooking shows held by chefs for a healthy food culture.
There will also be a craft market located along the castle walls; agriculture, with the exhibition of antique tractors in Piazza XX Settembre; and animals, with the amateur dog show. There will also be fashion shows, dancing, music and DJ sets during the five evenings, the flag-wavers performance and the folk group La Montesina.
5-days festival for everyone, including sports enthusiasts attending the 1st Lari “City of Cherries” Grand Prix- a cycling race on Saturday 8.
