The MACCA – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea a Cielo Aperto (Museum of Contemporary Art in the Open Sky) is an institution that gathers together under a single direction the works scattered throughout the territory of Peccioli and its hamlets, the result of thirty years of work by artists who over time have been invited to develop projects in tune with the territory. MACCA’s collection now numbers over 70 works – mainly large-scale installations.
The museum is diffuse, open-air, allowing visitors to discover hidden places, to wander around the hamlets of Ghizzano, Montecchio and Fabbrica; to arrive at the Green Triangle of Legoli, (the Waste Disposal and Treatment Plant) and to understand that a landfill can coexist with works of art and a theatre. The MACCA is a chance to leave your car at the Peccioli Multi-Storey Car Park and walk on the colourful walkway of Endless Sunset, a spiral that leads to a panoramic view over Valdera as on the opposite side the same view is from the terrace of the Palazzo Senza Tempo.
